Three Ways To Start Feeling More Gratitude

gratitudeNext week in the states we will start off our holiday season by celebrating Thanksgiving. It’s a time where families can come together, celebrate the bond they share and enjoy good times and good conversations with each other. It’s also a holiday where we focus heavily on being thankful and showing gratitude for all we have in our lives.

Gratitude is by far, one concept that is widely heard, but seldom practiced in our day to day lives. Even though it is a key component to manifesting the things we want to bring into our lives in order to ensure a more joyous and fulfilling existence, it is often set aside while we focus on the stresses we face. Whether those stressors are driven by relationship troubles or even the financial burdens many face this time of year, we tend to set gratitude and thankfulness to the side and only worry about the problems and difficult emotions we are currently feeling. These difficult emotions tend to compound on top of each other and things inevitably start to become worse. Rather than focusing on the good we already have in our lives and the good things yet to come, we exacerbate the negative by only focusing in on the negative.

It’s not always easy to be thankful. It’s challenging to show gratitude when you are constantly bombarded with feelings of stress.  It’s hard to keep a smile on your face and know everything will work out perfectly when you can only see problem after problem right in front of you. I know exactly what it’s like. I know what it’s like to worry about whether or not you will have that special someone by your side during this magical time of year and I know what it’s like when you want nothing more than to see your child’s face light up on Christmas morning because he or she finally got that perfect gift they have been wanting all year long. While the holidays shouldn’t be about buying presents and material things, the reality is that it is a big part of it and it can easily add additional unwanted stress to your life.

When we display real gratitude and are thankful for everything we have and everything that will come to be in our lives, we multiply the positive and literally manifest everything we desire at lightning speed. The trick is being able to set the stress aside and focus in on the good and positive feelings. The below lists 3 tips to start feeling more gratitude right now. It won’t be perfect at first and it may even seem like you are simply going through the motions, but in time, you will absolutely see a positive shift in your life and notice that you experience much more joy than you do stress. You’ll also come to realize that every stress you encounter can be looked at square in the face and vigorously attacked with positive feelings. Not only will you feel better, you will also start to see more and more positive in your life. Remember, positive begets even more positive.

Start and Maintain a Gratitude Journal:

We have discussed this before, but this is the easiest way to start feeling more gratitude in your life. Each morning, write down three things you are
thankful for. At the end of the day, write down three more. Keep this journal going every day. While this exercise may seem pointless at first, in time you will start to feel the positive emotions associated with the items you are writing down. The more you
feel the positivity, the quicker more of this will come to you. While I don’t want to get into manifestation techniques specifically, adding raw positive emotion to your desires will help them come to you even faster. Don’t worry if you don’t feel the emotion right away, give it time, but make this a part of your daily routine.

Consider a Gratitude Jar:

When I was growing up in the midwest, my family actually maintained a swear jar. Whenever someone slipped, they had to add a quarter to the jar. I can assure you it filled up quite fast especially during Nascar season. This particular concept can also be turned into something gratitude related which is a fun idea for you and all of your family. I first saw this while randomly browsing through social media looking for something other than negative political posts. Whenever you feel thankful for something or truly feel gratitude, write it down and add it to the jar. At the end of the month, or year, or anytime that suits you, sit down with everyone and go through these items. They will serve as positive reminders for the joyful events in your life and help to increase the good you currently feel. As mentioned before, these positive feelings will multiply and help to bring even more positivity into your life.

Maintain Trust and Belief

There is no doubt it’s hard to believe in things that are considered intangible. It’s challenging to know things will start to get better and life will improve when you have experienced a long period of challenging circumstances, but belief and trust in the universe is another key component to multiplying the positive in your life. When you simply know things will improve and get better, they will. When you believe all your desires are going to come to fruition they will as well! Don’t worry if your journal entries don’t feel authentic at first. In time they will and you will begin to reap the rewards of a shifted mindset and finally start living the life you have always desired.
