17 Predictions of 2017 – Day 9 – Will There Be Any Health Outbreaks in 2017?

Hi my name is Samantha and this is my prediction for health outbreaks in 2017. Throughout the years many illnesses have come and taken us over by surprise such as Ebola, West Nile,  as well as many others that would not normally be expected. For 2017, I predict unfortunately there will be more problems with Zika virus and it is much more harmful them we may assume. Zika is a  virus that spreads through mosquito bites.
 I see that it is in everyone’s best interest to be safe when outdoors during the summer of 2017 –  especially while traveling in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the US Virgin Islands. The CDC has issued an alert for travel to these  areas where the Zika virus is spreading.
In most cases, there are no symptoms. In a few cases, Zika can trigger paralysis . In pregnant women, it may cause subsequent birth defects.When present, symptoms are mild and last less than a week. They include fever, rash, joint pain, and red eyes. There is currently no vaccine or specific treatment. Instead, the focus is on relieving symptoms usuallyincludes rest, rehydration, and acetaminophen for fever and pain. If you feel you may have contracted this virus, please seek a medical professional immediately to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.
Now I don’t want you to feel unsafe while traveling or outdoors. Yes, Zika virus is something that we need to take seriously,  but there are still many ways to prevent this  disease.
